Important Committee Elections

June 25, 2026

The Carroll County Committee of the Democratic Party of Georgia is excited to announce we will hold elections this Summer for membership in the County Committee(formerly called post seat holders) and for Delegates to the Georgia Democratic Party Convention. If you are a resident of and a registered voter in Carroll County and support the Democratic Party you can become a voting member of the Carroll County Democratic Committee and/or be a delegate to the 2026 Georgia Democratic State Convention. Details below.

County Committee Member Elections

The Carroll County Democratic Committee will hold elections for members of the County Committee. County Committee members serve 4 year terms, represent voters in Carroll County and work to support the election of Democratic candidates to public office. Committee members will be expected to be active in community outreach, fundraising, voter education, candidate recruitment, attend monthly Committee meetings and other essential activities.

• Election will be held Thursday June 25, 2026 6.30pm to 8.pm. Election will be held at Longview Park, Carrollton, unless forced to change by adverse weather. Arrive early for the picnic and to sign in. 

• Six people will be elected from each of Districts 1, 3 and 5. 

• Three people will be elected from Carroll County at-large.

• In addition, two people will be elected to fill vacancies in District 6.

Boundaries for County Committee districts are the same as the districts for the Carroll County Board of Commissioners. Check the Georgia Secretary of State My Voter page to confirm your Board of Commission/County Committee district. https://mvp.sos.ga.gov/s/

Any person running for County Committee member must submit a signed affidavit provided by the County Secretary to the County Secretary or her designee by 6.00pm June 24th. To request affidavit send email to info@carrollcountydems.org and put “committee election” in subject line. Include your full name, residential address and phone number in the email.

At the election each candidate will be given 1 minute to introduce themselves to the voters.

Any registered voter who resides in the County Committee district may vote/run to represent that County Committee district after signing the Democratic Affidavit.  Please arrive before 6pm to sign in.

Georgia Democratic Party State Convention Delegates Election

The Carroll County Democratic Committee will hold elections for delegates to the Georgia Democratic Party State Convention 2026. The convention will be held on August 1, 2026 in Savannah Georgia.

• Elections will be held Thursday June 25, 2026, 6.30pm to 8.pm. Election is in person at Longview Park, Carrollton, unless forced to change by adverse weather. Arrive early for the picnic and to sign in.  Please download the Delegate pdf form below, print, fill in and bring to election.

Any person wanting to run for delegate or to vote in the elections for delegate must arrive before the election begins and sign the Delegate Election affidavit and show proof of residence and voter registration. Election assistants will be available starting at 5.30pm before the election. 

Two elections will be held for Delegates: One election in which only County Committee members may vote. And a separate election in which any Carroll County resident voter may vote. 

Three Committee Delegates and two alternate delegates shall be elected by the members of the Carroll County Democratic Committee (post seat holders). These Committee delegates must be registered voters in Carroll County, but do not have to be County Committee members. Only County Committee Members vote in this election.

Three County Delegates and one alternate delegate shall be elected in a caucus of those voters in attendance at the meeting, including County Committee members.

Anyone can run to be a delegate as long as they are a registered voter in the county, physically reside in the county and submit a completed affidavit. A person who runs to be a delegate in the Committee election, but is not elected may run to be a delegate in the County election.
